During 1979, auditions were held at the Minskoff Theater for the movie, "Fame." More than 2,000 tried out for parts as extras and more significant roles. Included were students who attended Music & Art and Performing Arts. Principle filming took place that summer. 1979. The film premiered in the United States on May 16, 1980.
